Louie: Oh Louie/Tickets
This was another amazing episode of Louie. I’m not sure where the show ended and real life began. It starts out with Louie on the set of a terrible sitcom called Oh Louie. The sad reality is that a terrible show like that would probably last a lot longer than Louis CK’s previous television venture Lucky Louie that was on HBO. Lucky Louie was pretty awesome.
The second half of this episode is about Louie having to go see Dane Cook to get Lady Gaga tickets for his daughter. The real life controversy between Cook and CK is the center point to this episode. Yeah, in real life Cook was accused of stealing CK’s bits, which honestly surprises me because the two of them are so incredibly different. The Cook scene looks awkward. Some of the scene has both Louie and Dane in the same shot, but all the shots where it’s just one of them just looked strange to me. It’s almost like they weren’t in the same place when those moments were filmed. This episode, more than any, makes me want to pick up this season when it comes out on DVD or Blu-Ray so I can find out how it came to be. Judging from Maron’s interview, Cook doesn’t seem to have much of a sense of humor about himself. I wonder if what seemed like over the top product placement for Converse All Stars meant that Dane Cook came with a bit of a price tag.
Bob Sagat did a nice job parodying the fact that he sold out a bit when he did Full House. It was a pretty monumental episode. I think it’s one that will go down in the history of the show as one of the best ones to watch.
